Document Versioning, Improved Search, and User Rights

We just added some new features to ProjectSpaces including version control and the ability to search the full text of uploaded documents!

We rolled out a couple of major enhancements and made a change to the content editor user rights. We added document versioning and check-in/checkout functionality. We took our time on this one to make sure we did it right. In addition, we added a powerful new file indexing/full text search that will index common file formats such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF to greatly enhance the accuracy and performance of ProjectSpaces search.

We also made a change to the content editor user rights based on overwhelming demand from our customers. Before the content editor could add content, and edit and delete content that they themselves added. But they could not edit other users' content. We added the ability for content editors to "check out" and upload new versions of documents (even those added by others). They retained the same rights for editing other content.

Also, we improved announcements to simplify the add announcement form. Some users were getting confused by the "Summary" and "Full Text" fields so we combined them. Please note that ProjectSpaces will now strip html tags for announcement summaries on project home pages.
